Managing Associate
Pete Jaacks is a managing associate attorney at Jewell Jimmerson Natural Resource Law. His practice focuses on water rights, environmental compliance, land use, and real estate. With deep ties to Colorado and a thorough understanding of the West’s unique legal landscape, Pete offers clients practical, solutions-oriented counsel on a range of natural resources issues.
Pete’s water rights practice includes representing clients ranging from private landowners and developers to agricultural users, municipalities, and special districts in transactions and litigation concerning conditional water rights, diligence proceedings, complex exchanges and plans for augmentation, and changes of water rights.
In addition to his water rights practice, Pete advises clients with respect to various environmental matters, including real estate due diligence and Brownfields redevelopment, compliance with the Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA matters, and regulatory enforcement and administrative rulemaking proceedings.
Whether navigating complex water adjudications or advising on environmental issues, Pete works closely with clients to provide clear, strategic advice that aligns with clients’ goals and the dynamic legal framework of the Rocky Mountain region.
Prior to practicing law, Pete operated a wilderness fly-fishing company based in Southwest Alaska. In his free time, Pete enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, hunting, and fishing.
